The Total energies CAF Afcon 2025 qualifies draw took place on Thursday 4th July at Johannesburg South Africa, the much-anticipated masterpiece show down will commence on the 21st December 2025 to 18 January 2026 due to the extension of FIFA club world cup to 32 teams which is taking place few months later.
Africa’s precious gold was lifting by Ivory Coast earlier this year beating Nigeria’s super eagles 2-1 in the final to become the continents number showstoppers. While South Africa’s Bafana Bafana made history and shocked the world with an impressive form that saw them getting bronze medal more than two decades since they last lifted the trophy in 1996 in a new democratic South Africa after being banned from international sports during apartheid.
The current champions have been drawn in Group G alongside Chad Zambia and Sierra Leone, while the host nation for the upcoming Afcon Morocco are drawn against Gabon, Central African Republic and Lesotho.
Bafana Bafana are in Group K having to fight, show their skills and talent once more against Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. The qualifiers will commence in September 2024 and the first and second placed teams in each group will earn their spot in the CAF AFCON 2025.
Hugo Broos Bafana Bafana are now ranked among the top 10 teams in Africa and will have to show the whole African continent and the rest of the world they are not one-minute wonder. Hugo was satisfied with the draw and emphasized that they need to take caution during the qualifies “when we look at our performances in the AFCON in beginning of the year Cote d’Ivoire where we achieved the bronze medal, and also in the following games (In FIFA series Algeria), I think we can be very confident. It will be important to achieve our level; we have to say from these group we have to qualify for AFCON 25 in morocco” concluded Broos.
