Toyota Cup – Another historic moment in South African football as Kaizer Chiefs and Young Africans FC played in a sold-out pre-season Toyota Cup held at Bloemfontein Toyota stadium, on the 28th of July 2024.

The Khosified nation were embarrassed and trashed in front of 40 000 fans 4-0 by the exceptional performance and ever hard working clinical Tanzanian champions Young Africans to lift the inaugural Toyota Cup at the city of roses. Defensively Chiefs were always caught off guard, losing concentration and not covering spaces in between the defense which Africans capitalized on to continue the losing streak of Khosination, which in the past two seasons has infuriated Amakhosi supporters.

Although we saw a different Chiefs and new style of play having recently appointing Nasreddine Nabi as their new head coach in the past few weeks, there is still a long road to recovery for Amakhosi in getting the glory days back to Naturena. Nabi has a lot of work to do which will require patience before results can yield.
Young Africans broke the deadlock on the 25th minute through Dube, in added stoppage time the Tanzanian champions made it 2-0 through Aziz before the whistle to signal half time. Young Africans did not show mercy as they were clinical in all departments adding their goal tally to three goals 12 minutes into the second half of the match against the struggling chiefs defensively before Aziz Ki netted for the second time for a brace on the 63rd minute.

However, Kaizer Chiefs fans took consolidation in a pre-match win over Bloemfontein Celtics legends as they were hammered by Kaizer Chiefs Legends 2-1 where the fans had to see once again their longtime favorite footballers of all time such as Mbezuma and Simphiwe Tshabalala in action again.

Nasreddine Nabi outfit did not qualify for the MTN8 knockout tournament as they finished 10th on the log last season. Kaizer Chiefs official match likely to happen second week of September which will give the new coach plenty of time to adapt and work out a plan to glorify and turn the tables at Naturena camp.
