VANDERBIJLPARK – Emfuleni Local Municipality senior administrator received a holiday paycheck accumulated during the COVID-19 period amounting to R132, 000.
According to LUR of Cooperative Government and Traditional Affairs Jacob Mamabolo, the employee in question demanded the leave he earned in the year 2021 despite working from home, this comes after much criticism from the DA which highlighted that such act violated the municipalities leave policy which only limits leave to 48 days.
Kingsol Chabalala of DA insisted that an investigation should be launched citing that other employees with similar claims were denied. Chabalala highlighted that Emfuleni’s municipal rating and service delivery is dysfunctional after Eskom reported an R8 billion debt to Emfuleni accounts.
